Around 40 representatives of companies of Andalusia have participated in the Mice & Forum Inside meeting, in Torremolinos (Málaga) and in which we had the opportunity of about 80 buyers from the national market.
The Ministry of Tourism, Regeneration, Justice and Local Administration participates as a main sponsor in this forum, which already had two previous editions in 2019 in Seville and Cádiz and that this year will also take place in Seville, Jaén, Úbeda and Baeza.
The Director of the Public Company for Tourism and Sports Management of Andalusia, Alberto Ortiz, recalled at the opening of the forum that the region is the third destination of the country in this segment, but has stressed that it has the potential to continue winning market share.
In this way, Ortiz has expressed confidence that these professional meetings “contribute to generate new business opportunities in Andalusia and attract customers from our first national issuer”, as is the national market.
The MICE segment is a product of high profitability in the territory and with a high seasonally adjusted effect, since 80% of these meetings usually take place in the periods from March to June and from September to November.
In addition, it shows a strong link with the use of hotels for the stay, in eight out of ten tourists with this motivation; and it has an important permeability with other segments, since these travelers usually carry out gastronomic and cultural activities during their stay.
To these virtues we must add the high daily expenditure, about three times that of the conventional tourist; as well as the ability of meetings tourism to be the spring of future visits to the destination for other reasons.
